We received an email from the Apple team yesterday about their brand new Podcasts Connect application. I didn’t dive too deep into tool but thought I’d take a minute to check and see what’s under the hood. For what I gather, Podcasts Connect will be the future hub for iTunes podcast management.

Podcasts Connect allows you validate and submit your RSS feed to iTunes without have having having to go through iTunes, which you’d have to in the past. There’s also a feature that allows you to manage existing feeds or delete them all together.

Finally, more support for HTTPS, resources, and help documentation. All great information if you’re trying to navigate what at times cane be a frustrating landscape. But, none the less a positive step in the right direction for Apple.

A few features I’d personally like to see added:

• iTunes analytics (yes, I know it’s a long shot!)
• Video tutorials and video help documentation

Overall, Apple has slightly lightened the load for the iTunes podcast submission and deletion process. We’ll have to see how things play out down the road, but again I feel it’s a step in the right direction.
